Lil Wayne Sells A Million Copies Of New Album

Lil Wayne’s new album ‘Tha Carter III’ has sold over 1 million copies in it’s first 7 days in the U.S., making him the only artist in three years to break the million mark in one week.
The New Orleans rapper, who smashed sales expectations, has held the top spot on the U.S singles chart for the past few weeks with the hit song ‘Lollipop’, and has featured heavily on the mixtape circuit over the past couple of years.
According to Nielsen SoundScan figures, the last album to sell in-excess of a million copies was 50 Cent’s ‘The Massacre’ in 2005.
‘Tha Carter III’ sold 423,000 copies on the first day of release even after the album had been pushed back a number of times due to internet leaks and bootlegs.
